Thanks for sharing BAND-MAID. In return, have you heard the Surfrajettes? An all female surf rock band.

Love the mid century illustrations in the kid's books. Reminds me of lots of other similar kids books, and the line of Golden Book Encyclopedias. These were given away, one volume a week, at A&P grocery stores in the 60's. Each volume had a realistic, nearly trompe l'oiel cover with a still life composed of items representing that volume's contents. The contents had great spot illustrations in lots of styles.

(I wish The Magnet comments had a way to post an image--I'd show you some...)

I was delighted to find those very covers repurposed and up-cycled into spiral bound journals and note books at Attic Journals. I don't see one available today but there are lots of other fun nostalgic kid's books!

I remember this encyclopedia, Bob! In fact, my mother bought a few at the grocery store when I was a kid!

We have that very volume ("Book 15 --Thailand to Volcanoes") as a spiral-bound notebook. Can you name all the T thru V cover items? Tile, tomato, top, tools, volcano, valentine, thermometer, ..what are the others?

Those LOTO locks are really interesting in and of themselves, particularly the MasterLock variety. Masterlock is known for using their atrocious 4 pin cores that are easy to rake open in most of their locks, even though the lock bodies themselves are usually pretty solidly built. However, their LOTO locks have challenging 6 pin cores with security pins, but bodies that won't withstand any brute force attack. I've got a few of them in my lock picking practice set. They are a pretty fun pick. LPL has a great video on them.

Thanks Rob, LPL is one of my favorites!

Yes, he's the best! I got started in lock picking watching BosnianBill's videos, but I like LPL a lot more. I'm eagerly waiting on Sparrows to get the disc detainer pick that they designed together back in stock. It's a beautiful piece of equipment! I haven't delved into those types of locks, yet, but I would love to learn.

Wow - that looks like a tool that someone in Gibson's Sprawl would use!

The did a series spread across the two channels going through the entire design and prototype construction. It was really cool.

I read about The Golden Book of Chemistry Experiments about 8 years ago on BoingBoing. Having grabbed the PDF, I searched for this book at each used books store and estate sale in my path. The search ended last week.

As a result, I am reading The Radioactive Boy Scout by Ken Silverstein mentioned in the wiki.

Hey Mark, Not sure if it's just me, but I was not able to read the comments section on my iPhone 7 Plus using Safari. I could press the LIKE heart, but not read the comments. I commented, but could not read the prior comments. I logged in on a MacBook Pro to leave this. Just an FYI if you want to check.

Thanks. Maury. Do you know if you were logged in when you used Safari? The comments only work for subscribers, I think.
